DIRECTORY ELECTION RESULTS 2012-2013

STALYC 2012-2013 Directory Election Act

 

The Member Ordinary General Assembly of the Transplant Society of Latin America and the Caribbean was held on March 25th, with the purpose to inform the members of the activities and financial results of the period January 2010 to February 2011.

By this the STALYC articles were fulfilled with the election of the Directory for the period 2012-2013.

RENOVATION AGREEMENTS WITH THE TRANSPLANT SOCIETY

In the framework of the XXI Latin American and Caribbean Transplant Congress that took place in Colombia, the STALYC Directive met with the new elected president of The Transplantation Society, Dr. Francis Delmonico, to renew the agreements with the TTS.

THE STALYC PARTICIPATION IN COSTA RICA AND NICARAGUA

Dr. Ashley Baquero President of the Latin American and the Caribbean Society of Transplant (STALYC) made an official visit to Costa Rica and Nicaragua accompanied by Dr. Francis Delmonico Professor of Surgery of The University of Harvard and the Elected President of The Transplantation Society.

Dr. Delmonico is the Executive Director of the Istambul Declaration Group and Dr. Baquero is the General Coordinator of The Aguascalientes Document. Both the Instanbul and Aguascalientes Group unite and work together to avoid Transplant Tourism commercializing.

INCORPORATION OF NEW CENTERS OF INTERNASHIP IN THE STALYC IMPROVEMENT SHCOLARSHIP

In the Directive reunion held in March, the incorporation of two new Transplant Centers for internship of the improvement scholarship, awarded by the Society was approved.

The Centers that incorporate and add to a list of 10 Transplant Centers in Latin -America and the Caribbean are the following:

Election of the STALYC Board of Directors

Distinguished Members of the Latin American and Caribbean Transplant Society:

Under the mandate of these statutes, in their section 6 regarding the election of the Board of Directors, I see fit to accurately transcribe the article:

"The statutes indicate the following regarding the election of the board of directors: The members of the Society's board of directors will be chosen by the members of the Society in a direct vote to be carried out during the Society's General Assembly. The General Secretary will send all the partners with at least 3 months advance notice, the list or lists proposed which were studied by the board of directors, The tally of votes will be done directly during the election act ".

In the name of the Board of Directors, I see fit to submit the following list of people to preside over the Latin American and Caribbean Transplant Society, during the period 2010 -2011.

President: Dr. Ashley Baquero (Dominican Republic)

President Elect: Dr. Roberto Tanús (Argentina)

Past President: Dr. José Toro (Chile)

Vice-President: Dr. Alejandro Niño Murcia (Colombia)

Vice-President: Dr. Valter Duro (Brazil)

General Secretary: Dr. Mireya Ortiz (Chile)

Secretary: Dr. Josefina Alberú (Mexico)

Treasurer: Dr. David Arana (Venezuela)

The General Assembly will be held on Thursday 24 September 2009.
