As President of the Society for this new period, I want to thank all for your showing support for this new directive and express to you all that it is a great honour for me to assume this position.
In conjunction with the members of the Directory, we commit ourselves to develop the planned objectives of the society with the up most responsibility and hope to count on each and everyone's support.
For this present period 2012-2013, our principal line of work and aims are:
- Put into work the integration of all types of transplants within the chapters by organs.
- Strengthen the president's consultative bodies of the societies of the region.
- Continue to expand scholarships and internships, promoting technical advances in Latin America.
- Continue with STALYC courses in countries of the region that require collaboration in training and development of their transplant programs.
- Strengthen interaction with related National Scientific Societies and Supra National entities with state organizations (Health Ministry's ect.) of Latin American countries to join in collaboration towards common objectives.
- Increase participation of member countries throughout their representatives in the Directory.
- Successfully fulfil the STALYC Congress in 2013 in Buenos Aires.
- Consolidate the STALYC Bioethics Forum.
This Directory has planned two great challenges, one will be the contribution towards the eradication of Transplant Tourism in the region, and the other is to aim at the contribution of equal opportunities for transplant and give coverage to all the inhabitants of Latin America.
We would like to remind you that we have our Website with growing access to favour communications with members and scientific communities, are kindly invited to register and permanently inform yourselves of the activities that our Society organizes, as for member countries we invite you to send in your ideas and contributions, your activities and publications to show on our website. This website belongs to each and every member of the STALYC.
During March and April, our visiting country site is Argentina, we will be publishing their evolution and its actual Transplant state.
In relations to the scientific activities developing this year, we kindly invite you to participate and join the events the STALYC is coordinating, among these is the "SECOND LATIN AMERICAN FORUM OF ETHICS AND TRANSPLANT", that will take place on the 19th of April of the year in course, within the framework of the Latin American Society of Transplant and Hypertension Congress (SLANH) in the cheerful city of Cartagena de Indias, Colombia. We also invite you to apply for the STALYC Improvement Scholarship Grant and to expand our next Extension Course.
Our first Directory meeting will take place in the SLANH Congress in Cartagena.
